Sicily - 1 Day group departures by Catamaran

Programme "Provincia di Ragusa"

(2nd November, 4th December, 26th February, and 15th April 2012: Modica, San Giacomo, Lago di Santa Rosalia, Ragusa Ibla, Ragusa)

We meet at Valletta Port Virtu Ferries Catamaran departure point at 5am for departure with the MV Jean de la Valette to arrive in Pozzallo at 8.30 am. Our private coach will take us to the centre of Modica Bassa  about 30 minutes away, where we  visit the Duomo di San Pietro, the Corso, the oldest chocolate factory in Sicily, the Palazzo Grimaldi, the  Duomo di San Giorgio…Lunch at an Agriturismo (about 30 minutes away), in the Giarratana / San  Giacomo area for a typical 5 course lunch including free flowing wine and  mineral water. After lunch we visit the Lago Santa Rosalia then on to  Ragusa Ibla, a medieval town (30 minutes away). Free time to visit the Corso, the Duomo di San Giorgio and the  Botanical Gardens.  We then leave  Ragusa Ibla to go to  Le Masserie Centro Commerciale in Ragusa for some shopping (15 minutes away), then on to Pozzallo, arriving at 6pm to board the catamaran which departs at 7.30pm and arrives in Malta at 9pm.

Programme "Provincia di Siracusa"

(13th November, 29th January, 18th March) Visiting: Siracusa, Ortigia, Melilli, Marzamemi)

We meet at Valletta Port Virtu Ferries Catamaran departure point at 5am for departure with the MV Jean de la Valette to arrive in Pozzallo at 8.30 am. Transfer by private coach to Siracusa (about 40 minutes journey) where we visit various places of interest on the island of Ortigia, including the Piazza Archimede, the Diana fountain, the Piazza Duomo,  the church of Santa Lucia alla Badia, a papyrus factory and the lungomare. Also time for shopping along the fashionable Corso Matteotti or to take an optional boat to see the grottos of Siracusa.

Lunch  includes  a five-course meal with free flowing local wine and mineral water, at a typical trattoria / restaurant in Siracusa. We then visit the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Tears in Siracusa, and after the Siracusa Archaelogical Park  to see the world-famous Greek Theatre, Roman Theatre, the bell-shaped cavern known as Dionisius’ Ear .

A coach transfer will take us to the Centro Commerciale Auchan or Conforama in Melilli, with some free time for shopping, following which we visit the picturesque historical centre of the village  of Marzamemi, and also  the old Tonnara (tuna farm). We will also visit one of the shops selling typical Sicilian delicatessen before leaving for Pozzallo to board the Catamaran which arrives  in Malta at 9pm.
