Livigno in Summer - Detailed Programme

DAY 1

Meet at MIA to fly from Malta to Milan and then board a luxury coach for transfer to Livigno. This is where your holiday begins as you enjoy the drive which passes the magnificent and breathtaking Lake Como then continues through the vineyards of Tirano and the Valtellina with a spectacular drive to Livigno, your home town in the Alps.Check in to your superior 3 star hotel located right in the centre of the village. Enjoy the spectacular views of the mountains.

DAY 2

Your first full day and it is a day to unwind and explore the unique charms of Livigno. After breakfast, you will take a guided walking tour of Livigno. This is a very gentle walk with no hills involved, during which you can take the time to admire the towering peaks of Mt. Mottolino and Mt. Carosello on either side of the Valley (reaching up over 3,000 metres). At a small supplementary cost you can choose to take a cable car ride to the very top of the mountain from where you can soak up the spectacular 360 degrees view of the mountain tops while breathing the freshest, cleanest air imaginable.

DAY 3

A luxury coach full day excursion into Switzerland. On this day’s itinerary, the famous towns of Davos and Klosters are certain to impress, as they have been Europe's elite resorts for many years. Guests will have time to explore the many sights including an impressive walk around Lake Davos. On this day trip, you will also see the typical Swiss village of Zernez, stopping along the way for photos at the top of the Fuela pass.

DAY 4

Full day excursion to the beautiful neighbouring countries, Austria and Switzerland. We first stop at Guarda, a tranquil alpine village in Switzerland, drive past the beautiful castle of Tarasp and then continue to Landeck in Austria, where we have free time for shopping and exploring this Alpine village. We visit the small fortified town of Glorenz in Switzerland, then continue on our way through the Rezia Pass and drive through the Swiss Alpine village of Santa Maria in Munstair. We stop to see the submerged village of Curon where only the church steeple can be seen above the surface of the beautiful Lago di Resia. On our way back there is also the chance of spotting wildlife of the region including steinbock and ‘marmotte’ (beaver).

DAY 5

A guided visit (on foot), to the nearby, newly built “Latteria” in Livigno. Here, fresh dairy products including cheese, yoghurt and ice-cream are produced. A detailed explanation of the processes and machinery used will be given while going round the dairy, after which we can sample these delicious products (entrance fee is included in tour price). When we finish our Dairy tour we can explore the nearby lake of Livigno on foot under the guidance of an experienced tour leader. Free time for duty free shopping in the afternoon, or maybe for horse-riding, cycling or trekking.

DAY 6

Always popular, this day’s excursion to St. Moritz in Switzerland is a regular favourite among Maltese visitors. A short coach ride from Livigno will see you embark on one of the world’s most famous and beautiful train journeys (train ride at a supplementary cost). The Bernina Express (the red train) from Poschiavo in Switzerland to the Morterasch glacier is an unforgettable journey, winding through the mountains, across a glacier and passing magnificent lakes. We board our coach to see a spectacular waterfall, and then continue on to Celerina before our final destination, the world famous St. Moritz, the play ground of the rich and famous. We also drive past the beautiful lakes of Champfer, Sils and Silvaplana. Prepare your camera and video for a full day of films and photography because around every corner there is a super, special memory waiting to be captured.

DAY 7

A half day excursion to the nearby town of Bormio and the chance to explore its charming medieval centre. Bormio has been the second home for many Milanese for many years and this has a slightly more sophisticated ambience then other nearby towns... try the liqueur Braulio which was created and is made exclusively in the town. Your final afternoon is spent in Livigno. Relax, have a nice walk or perhaps do that final last minute duty free shopping.

DAY 8

Pack your happy memories, breathe in the cool mountain air, until next time, before your departure from Livigno to Milan for flight back to Malta to share your memorable mountain holiday experiences with your friends and family.
